Fiery and Unyielding—The Cry of the Chongqing Hero
As the drums of the September 3 military parade were about to sound, a thunderous roar suddenly broke the darkness over China’s Chongqing University Town. On the evening of August 29, an unknown hero boldly projected a massive message onto the side of a building, filling the night sky with words that shook the soul: "Without the Communist Party, there would be a New China; freedom is not a gift, it must be reclaimed."
This scene
was like a thunderstorm tearing through the silence, stirring waves of shock across
both China and the world. The person behind this act was soon hailed as the
"Chongqing Hero," and we would call him the "Awakened
One"—someone who stood tall in the dark, a voice for the millions who have
remained silent. Armed with nothing but courage and a deep yearning for
freedom, he defied not just a government, but centuries of oppression ingrained
in the hearts of millions.
In those
powerful words projected across the wall, we witnessed not just a call for
resistance, but a force born from awakening in the face of oppression. "Down
with the Red Fascists, overthrow the Communist tyranny." This was not
a fleeting impulse, but the voice of countless oppressed souls crying out, an
awakening from a deep slumber. As this hero wrote in his letter: "The Communist
Party has committed so many atrocities on this land, the crimes are beyond
counting." These are not empty accusations, but insights born from decades
of suffering and historical truth.
Freedom is
never free; it is something that must be fought for with life and spirit. It is
through the courage of countless individuals like the Chongqing Hero, who carry
the weight of future hope, that we see ripples form in the great river of
history, ultimately rising into a tide that will break through the darkness.
Perhaps in the eyes of some, he is a "traitor," an "oppositional
figure," but in truth, he is nothing more than an ordinary person
unwilling to remain a slave, bold enough to amplify his voice and the voices of
millions who have been silenced.
We want to
say this: the Chongqing Hero is not alone in this fight. While he may now be
far from the land of oppression, his courage has already spread far and wide,
becoming a never-ending spark in our hearts. His letter was not just a warning
to the police, but a warning to every Chinese person: "Maybe you are
benefiting now, but most people have been persecuted by the Communist
Party." Every political movement, every act of suppression, has
burdened this country with untold bloodshed and tears. History cannot easily be
forgotten, and the truth will always surface.
Though he
may have fled, his spirit remains deeply rooted in this land. The voices of the
oppressed will not fade; the yearning for freedom will no longer be suppressed.
Whether it is the "Chongqing Hero," or figures like Peng Zai Zhou, or
countless nameless individuals running in the dark, their cries will rise like
a surging tide, gathering into an unstoppable force. It will eventually tear
open a gap in the darkness of history, letting the light shine through and
guide us toward a brighter future.
At this
moment, as the dust begins to rise, what choice do we face? Should we continue
to endure in silence, or, like the Chongqing Hero, seize the flame within our
hearts to ignite the darkness that awaits the dawn? The answer is already
clear—Awaken, O people who refuse to be slaves!
History is calling us!
